I am...most sadly...out.  I have some major (but all good) changes going on that I need to be home for and as many ways as I spun routes, dates and times, it just doesn't work.  :negative: This all just came up in the last two weeks and I'm about crushed to not be able attend the Black Hills Rally.  I honestly think this one will go down in FJ history as being epic!  I AM going to make the WCR...but even then, I'm pushing it...but hell, ya gotta ride, right??   :good2:

I will be there in spirit...just imagine the Cap'n sitting at Al's Bar and Grill...swapping stories with Leon...shaking hands with CanDman for the first time...riding the twisties and planning routes with my favorite Canadians...having a glass of wine while catching up with George...having a chat with the K-man about best routes during and after the rally...Lending Steve one of my strippers....asking Garth what we did wrong with the thermite at the WCR...enjoying the old friends and meeting some new folks...who will be my old friends next year.

I only have ONE request:  I don't want a report of ANYone breaking rule #1 and that everyone has a great time.  I suppose that's two requests, but they sort of go together.
Cap'n Ron. . .

There are two types of people in the world...Those who put people into categories...and those who don't.

I am bummed now Ron... I was looking forward to seeing you there.  But I do understand about life and things that get in ones way.  Usually that's the way it's meant to be.  The summer is young and there is more time for our paths to cross.  Rest assured your spirit will be there.

Well crap, that isn't what I was looking to read this morning, Ron. But you are doing the right thing, as life does have it's ups and downs.
We will most certainly miss you.

How do you think I feel? :cray:

I was planning on sleeping with him!  :shok:

All kidding aside, we all know that "Life Happens".
Sometimes plans just don't work out, and new plans are formed.
I had to cancel my Rally plans 2 years ago, when I switched jobs. It all worked out fine, and I'm in a better place.
If everything goes well for Ron, I hope to see him later in the summer. We'll catch up, and share rides and stories then.
You'll be missed at the BHR buddy. :drinks:

On that note, Ron's dropping-out subtracts one from our list, however unless some circumstance prevents him from attending, there is another who is planning to join us.  :good:

Is Garth bringing the Thermite to the Black Hills event?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

Thermite is scheduled to be delivered by UPS tomorrow.  :)

You loading up early? Are you guys leaving monday?

Sunday AM.  Arrive hopefully Monday late afternoon.  A bit early but there is no direct route from here to there and being where it is we would like to spend as much time as we can there.  To far for just a two days.  Driving time computes to 17 + hours not counting stops.  So figure 18 to 19 hours on the road one way.
A planned stop in Cody. The guys from the WCR have about the same driving time, perhaps a bit more.

My son stopped by and it was a good time to enlist his help loading the bike.  I did some minor adjustments on the FJ while in the trailer this morning (never stops..).  Also loaded some misc BBQ and camping stuff.  I rounded up 6 misc. chairs.  An odd collection but better than a rock.  Might run across another one or two this Sat. (neighborhood yard sale).

From looking at the weather it is going to be "variable".  Dress warm (Hill City is at 5159') bring rain gear or at least be ready for it.
