There's an old trick of drilling an extra hole oposite the one there to make the slide lift easier, has this been tried on the FJs.

Vacuum (caused by air velocity) raises the slide.
If you drill a extra hole in the slide the slide will rise slower, not faster.
DynoJet as part of their stage 3 jet kits used a softer slide spring, allowing the slides to pop up faster, this can/will cause problems with mid range (rich) fueling and stumbling, so to compensate DynoJet used to recommend to drill out, enlarging the hole, in a effort to slow the slides down.

if you want your slides to rise quicker, address the slide spring, but be careful what you wish for.
I would not recommend drilling the slides, unless you want to JB weld up the holes you drill.
Take a look at the cost for replacement slides...ouch.
