May I suggest that a list of the most common "noobie" Q and A's be put in a stickie, (perhaps on the Introduction tab)
and that it include this tid-bit:  "the seat release handles are located by the grab rails" which is information conspicuous by its absence in the Service Manual.

Where ever we sticky the FAQ, it will be in the wrong space. Rest assured.

That's why the FAQ is a child board of the FJ Running Problems section, clearly visible in the main menu.

Re: Seat latches, yea, that's a good one. True, it's not in the Yamaha Service manual but it is in the Owners Handbook which every FJ owner should have. There is a lot of good info. in there.
If you don't have one, don't pay for one, you can down load one for free...
