Bloody oath it is.! Theres 2 main options for the 5? of us heading to Wollongong on Thursday --

Suggested routes

  994 km, 10 hours 57 mins
   Pacific Hwy and Pacific Motorway

   1,002 km, 11 hours 36 mins
   New England Hwy/A15

I think Glenn said the preferred option is the coast road, would there be less holdup going inland? Not sure. From Wollongong to Jindabyne the main option is ---

Suggested routes

   418 km, 4 hours 27 mins
   Monaro Hwy/B23

So its a nice easy ride on the Friday. Still have to work out the return trip details, (allowing for a Bathurst visit).  So those of us heading early on Thurs morn, could we organise meet up points/times etc before then, that would be great,  :good2:    I get back from Melbourne late Wednesday arvo, and the chances of me getting a good sleep before heading of Thursday morn are probably zero %. (Can never sleep before a big trip   , happens all the time for work)  Got to remember to put my "trip tool kit" together too, chain adjusting etc.

[Glenn is hoping to maybe get 4 of us overnight accommodation at his uncles place in Wagga, and then do the remaining few hundred kays easily on the Friday. I 'll wait for Glenn to confirm this though.

Ray If your going to head to Wagga for overnight accommodation the you will have gone a long way past where you need to be and will coming from the south west region  :wacko3:

Hi at this stage Randy Chandra myself and Karen are leaving here Wednesday morning all going well Overnighting in Newcastle on Wednesday, Canberra Thursday leisurely ride in to the weekends digs on Friday.
Return trip will be into Canberra on the Sunday leave Canberra mid morning on the Monday Via Bathurst back in Brisbane on the Tuesday as I'm working on the Wednesday and I need to get Randy and Chandra on a plane for Cairns on the Thursday.
The good thing is all these plans can change and are adaptable, at this stage we plan to trailer the bikes to Canberra and ride from there, 1 place I do recommend stopping at on the way down is the motorcycle museum at Nabiac well worth the visit.
Anyone heading to the gong try Kangaroo valley its a real blast and as Pete said some of the roads from the coast up into the mountains are a fabulous ride  :yahoo:

Yeah, I got my Ws mixed up, Wollongong is where we are supposed to be Thursday night. Your plans coming back sound like what I was planning to do Doug, wanted to do a couple of laps around Bathurst and get back on the Tuesday.  (or even Monday night, depending on Glenns schedule)
As a side not, I just received today my little puncture repair kit to stick under the seat, something I've never had before. Hopefully won't have to use it.

Starting to sound like some of the Yank rallys with all these "trailer queens".
Don't you folks know that these FJs are able to be ridden long distances ?

   Arnie, Arnie, Arnie,

Although I must admit I haven't ridden this distance in such a short time before, so it will be an experience for me, thats for sure.

Hmmm,
Are you all going to drone down cop & camera infested highways at 100 kmh?
No one else riding the riders roads from S.E QLD?
Bruxner, Gwydir, Oxley then the Putty to Bylong Valley way,Sofala, etc?

It's going to be hot and humid for the most part, lots of the attendees are not used to riding long distances in such a short time either.

Here's a few things that have been found to help
Read up on the signs of dehydration and try to recognise the symptoms in yourself.
Water, get a CamelBak type thing, only fill it with water, don't guzzle soft drinks, power/energy drinks etc and try to eat lightly.
Ibuprofen or codeine & paracetamol tablets, (it's legal in Australia, up to 15 mg per tablet of codeine)
Get a neck muff, cuts out a great deal of wind noise
Ear plugs,
Get a "Throttle Rocker" type of throttle control
You'll be better off with a jacket and pants on the bike even when it's stinking hot, (less dehydration), than you would be just wearing a t shirt.
Your face will get really sunburnt, even with a visor, use sunblock and moisturiser.
Write down phone numbers, addresses etc. as well as having them in your phone, that way if the phone shits itself, you've still got them.

Ride at your own pace, everyone's going to the same place, you'll catch up with them.
