I was shopping around for a new top box and had decided to buy a Coocase S50 from Twisted Throttle for 180.00 from there catalog.  I logged on to there WEB site and they have them on sale for 84.71 ! Odd amount ??  Retails for 229.00.  48 liters,  22.7 X 12.3 X 17.3 includes both red and clear lens and universal mount.  I will update when I receive the box.  The universal mount looks like a copy of the GIVI monolock.

It is a fairly large box but for the price I can also buy a cheap small box from "flea bay" for around town use.  Small box's are easy to come by.

I also got the inside liner and a "Volt Accessory Charger kit.  The kit plugs into the inside of the box for cellphone charging etc..  I am installing a voltage tap up front but it will be nice to have one in the rear box as an extra.  They charged 22.00 shipping which wasn't to bad.
I ordered my MRA windscreen from them and received excellent service.

Other than being a customer I have no financial affiliation with Twisted Throttle.  Just seems like a good deal to me if you want a top box.

Coocase also has a remote control option, bike alarm system, and optional colored tops for what ever it worth. To cosmic for me. You might have to shop around for the options ?

Here is a write up from a Honda group on the Coocase top box with pictures of the mounting plate etc. It is the "Luxury Edition" but same basic box (has a piece of extra trim) . I will let you know on the mounting plate size but looks close to the GIVI monolock. The Coocase plate has a "prong power terminal" on it so when you put the case on it automatically plugs in. You can see it in the review below.

I got my order confirmation and things look good. The shipping for me was a bit higher because I ordered the inside top and bottom soft liner.  Be aware that you can also just order a bottom or top liner only and I think the price is 21 or 22.00 for either. 43.00 for both. Normally I would have passed on the liner but the box was so reasonably priced that I decided to get it. The shipping box looks huge :).

For some reason there is no reflective material behind the lens (according to the ad it comes with a set of clear and red lens) and you can buy some from Twisted Throttle as an extra but it seems over priced for some 3M reflective material. It is available from a lot of other places cheaper. Try a truck stop or e bay... :)

Here is the site.

Great find George.  :hi: :hi: That top box has some great features and an awesome price. As for the size. The 48 liter is great for holding a lot of gear. I have a 47 liter GIVI E470 knock-off and it will hold 2 full face helmets. Works great for a 2 up ride and you can put the helmets inside. Eliminates having to carry helmets around while away from the bike.

Here is a photo of my 47 liter top case for size reference on the FJ.

Hey Fred,

Could I have some up-close pictures of your rear topcase/sidecase mounting racks? I fabricated a SW-Motech rack plate onto my FJ, but I might need to move it back over the tail farther to give some room for 2-up passengers.

Thanks,

Andrew

I will post some picture's when I get it.  Looks like the same style as yours. I don't have a back rest so I can mount it a little more forward.  I want a large box for a longer trip and will get a small box for around town.  My rack is Kappa/GIVI unit.

The crash last spring destroyed the JC Whitney box that I had.  It was actually a good box for the cost and it fit the monokey plate I have nicely.

This new box comes with a new plate similar to the GIVI monolock. The great jacket search is now back on.  :good2:

I just received the box and it looks good. In an answer to your question it is Max width 12 3/8 inch's and just under 12 1/4 inch's long. Sitting it on top of my GIVI plate it is the same width and about 1 1/4 inch's longer.

The instructions say it is 312mm long, 317mm wide and 45.8 mm deep.

The plate is a heavy plastic with a snap cover to hide the mounting same quality or better than the GIVI.

Over all I am very impressed with the box.  It is the "Basic" box not the the "Volt" model.  It comes with the clear and a set of red lens, 2 keys, mounting plate, mounting plate cover, and some misc hardware. The box is the "Basic" box with no tail light but it is built with a recess to install aftermarket LEDs easily.

I ordered the interior soft liner as an option.  It is contoured to the box top and bottom. It adds to the box's quality but because it is formed to fit it has to be sent in a separate shipping box which adds to the cost. It would be handy if they would just slip it in the top box and ship it as one piece.

I noticed that they also have a top decorative cover on sale for 13.20 that your can paint a color to match your bike.
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/replacement-lid-panel-for-coocase-s48-s50-astra-topcases-unfinished

I also ordered a power outlet to be installed into the box for a extra cell phone or tablet charging circuit.  This is designed for the "Volt" model top box but I will adapt it in as I plan on installing some LEDS anyhow.

It is a nice feature that when you open the top it will stay open due to the side arms but as a cautionary note I am going to order a extra set of those side arms.  I will probably order one of those "to be painted covers" also as I have to mix some paint for my replacement side scoops.... :i_am_so_happy:

What rack do you have ? It's a good case with a lot of potential.  The case is large (50 liter) but for cross country trips it will be nice. I am going to make an adapter plate to go between my GIVI rack arms and the mounting plate to add some support. The box and the mounting plate are great, it's the GIVI arms that need a bit more support IMO.  Also those squares in the mounting plate will allow you to move the box forward or backward as the needed.  I ride solo so I want the box as forward as I reasonably can get and not look strange.

Here is a link of adding lights to the box. You will notice there is are two preformed area's to install lights. I plan on doing similar and installing the red lens (they come with the box). If you want buy them they also have smoked lens.

Also I plan on getting a smaller box later just for running around town.

I got a couple of jacket's off e bay.  Now is the time to shop for that stuff.  Picked up Cortech perforated leather jacket for 60.00 delivered and a 3/4 Tour Master for 55.00 to the door.  For general riding it's hard to beat the price.

I have the exact same rack as you but a monokey baseplate. is the inner liner worth it?

Hard call on the liner.  It is nice and good quality.  But you have to evaluate the cost. The extra box adds to the shipping.  It's not required I just wanted it. I can see why they may not, but you could ask them to slip it inside the top box and ship in one box ?

I picked up a scrap of AL plate to make an adapter for the mount plate to sit on today. The plate is about 1/8 " thick plus or minus. I want to be able to shift the box forward or backward as needed. And I want a little more support for the box. It is a big box.

Here is the adapter plate I made for the CooCase. Now I can bolt any GIVI mount or the Coo Case. The extra holes are so I can move the CooCase mount forward or aft as desired. Made out of scrap 3/16" thick AL plate cut with a jig saw and lightly polished.  The rack is a GIVI.

This is where an LED running/turn signal and brake light will be mounted in the future.
