Hi, I'm new to the forum but am interested in obtaining an FJ as a means of getting back into riding and reliving some of the excitement I felt when I was much younger and couldn't afford one of these at the time.  If someone has one that they're looking to part ways with for a decent price, even if it's a bit of a project, or distant; I'd be interested in at least corresponding about it and see if we could work something out.

Welcome to FJ Funny Farm, Their seems to be a trickle supply of FJ's coming to the market so one will come along. In the mean time, browse the files section and introduce yourself to this rapscallion bunch of FJ owners.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Welcome to the group,  :hi: Where in the world are you? There are usually a dozen or so FJ's up for sale around the world at any given time.

Welcome ! Take some time and shop around.  Good ones come up for sale often. For a good one I would expect to pay 1200 to 3000 here in the US. For a "fixer upper" 500 to 1200.  IMO, best money is to buy one in good shape to start with.  When you get ready to buy if you have to time post some pictures here and ask questions. Pretty helpful group here and as noted it would help if we knew were you were located.  A local member might give you a hand in the inspection.
Also I would recommend to check out http://www.rpmracingca.com/products.asp?cat=39 and http://www.2wheelpros.com/oem-parts/yamaha-parts.html to check out what parts are available and cost's.  Randy at RPM is a member here and is highly recommended.  Knowledge is power.  Nice to know what it cost to rebuild carbs or the price of a chain etc. in the price negotiation.

Welcome Catman, let us know your approximate location so we know what's feasible.  FJ's pop up now and again, but you never know when and where.
