Anybody watching the weather forecast for next week? The weather guessers are predicting record low temps for the week :dance2:

Fellow riders,
I'm really looking forward to this rally. Ark-Kansas is a part of the country I have little knowledge of, other than chatting with some who have been there.

Initial plan is to "Iron-Butt it" to the rally location by a yet-to-be-determined route. I've seen too much of I-75 into Georgia recently, and my motorcycle ride map is missing a few states. Of course, staying to known major roads might be beneficial in a distance/endurance test.

Additionally, I get distracted!

It will be nice to see any and all who might show up.

Packing now, making last minute checks.

Have to mow the lawn...

Well crap.  I skipped this rally because July in Arkansas is usually really hot.  I was there a few weeks ago in June and it was borderline miserable.  Somewhat better in the mountains, but it was threatening rain and the humidity was about 120%.

I hope you guys have a good time and the weather holds.  Any storms should have moved out by Thursday.

Here are some definite gotta-do rides from the Hub:
This is a nice 1/2 day ride..

From Jasper, take 74 east to 123 south in Piercetown.  Continue south on 123 through Mt Judea and look for the right turn just past Mt Judea.  Take 123 all the way to HWY 7.

South on 7 to Pelsor.  The southern part of 123 from HWY 7 (Pelser) to Hagertown is a lot of fun.  A few miles past Hagertown take 292 west to HWY 21 (Ludwig) and go back north (right).  If it's lunchtime be sure to stop for one of the best burgers in the US at Ozone Burger in the small town of Ozone on HWY 21.  Don't blink or you'll miss it.

After lunch, continue north on 21 to 43.  It's a Y intersection, stay right.  Take 43 to 74 and go right at the bridge.  Go east on 74 for a fun ride over the mountains and wind up back in Jasper.  From there you'll probably want to do 123 through Mt Judea again.

You've got to do Push Mountain also.  From the Hub, you have 2 choices.
The fun (long) way:  South on HWY 7, left on 374 to 123.  123 south through Mt Judea again (it really is worth it) all the way to HWY 7.  South on 7 to Pelsor then east (left) on HWY 16 to 27.  Take 27 north to Marshall.  27 north/east out of Marshall (watch for LEO on this road) to 14 at Harriet.  Right/east on 14 (good road!) through Big Flat.  A few miles out of Big Flat is 341 (Push Mountain road!).  You'll want to do this as many times as possible (it's 30 miles I think).  There's a good burger joint at the 3-way intersection just west of Big Flat.

The short way: North on 7 and take 206 over to HWY 65.  Jog south on 65 to east 62.  At Yellville, take 14 south to Harriet.  From Harriet follow direction above.

I would recommend the long way over to 341 and the short way back home.

Eureka Springs is a nice town, but not worth riding to.  The roads are nice, but they are always crowded.  Better to stick to the lesser travelled roads.

And whatever you do, DO NOT SPEED on HWY 7!  It's a Harley road and the state makes a lot of income with speed traps on that road.

Have Fun and ride safe!

What roads did you guys ride?
I don't know I just followed Fred and had fun.  Dave
A pistol is like a parachute, if you need one and don't have one you will never need one again.

Same here just followed Fred. Awesome roads everywhere. The people who run the Hub are great.

Hey Jeff good to meet you too. Wish  you would have ridden with us. Maybe next year.

That was a great ride.
Thanks again Fred

Well, I JUST made it back, safe and sound.

Spent last night in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as I wasn't up to doing a second Iron Butt on the return trip.

Great place, with awesome people.

Fred, you should be commended for putting together an OUTSTANDING rally! You reflect great credit on yourself, and the FJ Owners forum. Now reach around and pat yourself on the back.
