Just talked with Kelly at Cherahola MC resort.

The FJ group is booked for 9/15 through 9/21, 2014 at the Cherahala MC Resort.  They still have 7 cabins, as before, and are holding them for us.  She asked that reservations be made by the end of April...I know that seems a bit early, but we've been getting together the 3rd weekend of September for a long time so it shouldn't be a surprise.

The number for calling in is 423-253-6061, make sure to mention that you are in the FJ CLUB.

They still have a few trailer spots with power but no sewer and there's plenty of camping spots, if that's your choice.

Pass the word.  Looking forward to another great rally, hope to see everyone at Boone in May.

Just got off the phone with Kelly, made my reservations.
My son and I should get there Tuesday night.
I can't wait to see my East coast friends again!

:good2:  Hey that's great news Leon, looking forward to it!   And only 8 months and 9 days to go..

Agreed Dan. I still remember the nice talk we had at Tellico Beach back in 2011.

Cory, my oldest son, is the only one in my family that has not been to the Dragon, and we decided that this was the year.
He was able to make it to the Colorado Rally in 2012 with me, and he really enjoyed himself.
I have been wanting to make the trip back ever since I was there the first time.
Nice thing about planning this time of year, is that it gives me something to look forward to during these long cold winter days. I can't wait!

Feeling the same sort of winter malaise that many of my fellow motorcyclist friends feel, I went ahead and made reservations for this.  As Leon says, it gives me something to look forward to.  Last year was enjoyable.  This year, I hope to bring some fellow knuckleheads with me.  I will likely be trailering and be arriving Wed, and departing Sat, as I did last year.

More later.

Leon, are you planning on riding out there or truck/trailer?

What day do you guys ride the 'Tail of the Dragon'?

Thinking about possibly coming down from Canada for this one but will only be staying for 3 days, 2 days to get there, 2 days to get back.

It's not any particular day, nor does everyone ride together.  It's perhaps 30 miles from camp (IIRC) so it's easily reachable to be done more than once if you like, and I'm sure you'll have others that would join you.  I would avoid riding it on the weekend, if you can it does get congested.  It really can be as simple as, 'hey, do you want to go ride the dragon today?' -"OK"...

Come, the more the merrier, I say.  For me, this is the rally I'll attend from here forward.

What Dan said...

Some people have been known, once there, to spend an hour or two (or the rest of the day) riding back and forth from the overlook to the store.

FWIW though, it's also been said a few times that there are a lot better roads down there that don't have t-shirts.  IMO, it'd be a shame to miss a lot of them.   :pardon:

Aw, c'mon man... just because you got a few minutes of sprinkles in Boone one day?   :bomb:

I've been to two ECSR's and been rained on prodigiously, both times.  If I were trying for rain, I'd be batting 1000.   Maybe it's me, so if I stay away, it may not rain.  I'll test that theory.

Truth be told, this spring, in lieu of a motorcycle adventure, I will be spending a week+ island hoping on a private yacht near Guadalupe, and can't make the ECSR, even if I wanted to...  Eat your hearts out!
