Now Garth, lets not exaggerate things; it's beautifully sunny outside ride now.

Of course, it's colder than a witches tit in a brass bra in December, but hey... at least it's not raining.  :good:

True.. the weather lately has been a bit out of the norm (not raining)..but as you say we're paying a different price for the sunny weather.  Personally I wouldn't mind another snow storm like the one we had back in 2008.   :wacko2:
hell, if it weren't for your hands feeling like they are going to fall off (someone stole my cold weather gloves out of my saddlebags), its nice riding in the brisk cold weather sometimes. Actually the cold weather probably saved me some road rash when I was wrecked, I had about 5 layers on hahaha. it was the first low 30s day of the year.
STRIVE FOR PERFECTION, SETTLE FOR EXCELENCE

I ride HARTLESS or don't ride at all!

It's sunny & the pavement is dry. I'm going riding today even if it is only in the 20's & 30's. I need to take a bike to the DMV for a VIN inspection & I'm thinking today is the day.

Yeah, I'll be venturing out as soon as it warms up a little more to at least top off the fuel tank with Eth. Free.

FJ MCC VII

I love the long rides, that's what the Mighty FJ was made for. I rode up to Dallas from Austin on this past Thanksgiving Day. Traffic wasn't bad, and the FJ seems to run better in cold air. Of course, Austin to Dallas ain't that far, about 4 hrs. And that stretch of I-35 ain't exactly scenic. But I have FJ'ed I-35 from Minneapolis to San Antone a couple of times. With my best friend on his 1100 and me on my 1200. There's a place called "Cattle Pens" on I-35 outside Wichita, just an overpass that leads to, yep, cattle pens. Not a house or business or other paved road in sight. For miles. And miles. Great place for a smoke break.

I've done Minneapple to K.C. in a single day, (450 miles) and  K.C. to Dallas the next day (500 miles) then a short 200 mile day from Dallas to Austin, then 365 miles the next day from Austin to South Padre Island. But that was about 18 years ago. If I had the time and money, I'd be up for it again, especially with a riding pard. Might take it a little slower these days, though.

I would LOVE to ride from Austin to Seattle, I-10 to L.A. and PCH/I-5 up the coast. Done it a few time in a car. I don't mind the cold, actually prefer cool/cold to Texas Summer hot, and rain don't bother me, as long as it ain't freezin'.
The Yamaha FJ is the perfect motorcycle - comfortable enough to ride 500 miles in a day, fast enough to do it in 7 hours. Really.
