I have the upgraded ebc pads and steel braided lines(stock rotors still though). Growing up racing mx I have grown to only like extremely touchy front brakes even with my fj and they are not quite there yet. Curious if this would finally do the trick?

Don't know which yr/model you have but my '89 has R1 calipers w/ separate rez and master cylinder bore to match (14mm comes to mind --stock with R-1--but not sure which i ended up using, tried a couple, think this and 5/8th, one sucked bad, the other works perfect is all i know.)  These are way superior to stock calipers. Also..the calipers when i bought them used came with HH sintered pads...with these the bike would pull stoppies w/o even telling you.  *but* these pads _eat_ the stock rotors!  I miked them while those pads were on, scared me half to death, went back to organics--which give me plenty of stop w/o excessive fade.

With the 14mm bore, I will say that master cylinder will work great. I HIGHLY recommend doing the complete front brake system upgrade. Arashi rotors, EBC HH pads, R1/R6/FZ6/FZ1 Blue/Gold dot calipers and stainless lines.

Yes, that Nissin 19mm radial master is the one to use. I have one on my YZF600 with braded lines and R1 monoblocks. Clean your rotors by glass beading the friction areas for best results.

Hi there, im new to the forum so havent much imput, but iv fitted R1 blue calipers to my FJ1200abs and they work really well, got them from ebay for £55 a few years ago and iv been all over France, Monaco, Italy. i fitted standard pads with stainless pins. Its the best touring bike iv ever had, far better than my 1500 goldwing or zx6r. Happy days. :nyam1:

Did the R-1 blue spots with an FZ-1 master, braided lines, and HH pads. An ENORMOUS improvement!
(Not going for "light-switch" response though...)

Hey Fred, what are these "Arashi" discs? Been wondering about replacement sets, familiar with EBC, but never heard of these.

The Arashi rotors are basically a Galfer knock-off. Similar in design, but less cost. I have read that performance is on Par with the Galfer and EBC rotors. Many members on this forum have installed these rotors with fine results and zero negative feedback.

The previous post by FJmonkey shows a set with the gold center carriers and here is a link with black center carriers.
