That's kinda cool. No way the cop should have got fired for being human and actually enjoying motorcycling.

I agree, I didn't see anything dangerous, both briskly accelerated, but didn't jump in and out of traffic or anyway put anybody in danger. I think the best speed was 72 to be in what looked like a 65 type area. People are so friggin P.C. these days it makes e sick. Coolest cop I've seen in a while....

Tapartacus

I'm going to guess that the cop will be reprimanded and then be reinstated. Perhaps in a cruiser from now on. Too bad because I agree, cops need to be more human, I'm certain the guy on the Honda has a lot more respect now seeing that not all cops are dicks. Just my 2 bits.

+1, someone should have a go at the wanka that filmed him. Cool cop.
First major bike in my life was a Mach III widow maker.
My Second permanent bike 1978 Z1R (owned since Dec 1977)
My Third permanent bike is the 89 FJ12 - nice and fast
Forth bike 89 FJ12 my totally standard workhorse
81 GPZ1100 hybrid - what a bike, built to sell but I can't part with it

I disagree. The guy is (was) a cop and needs to maintain his professionalism at all times. He could have just as easily traded compliments with the Honda rider, revved it a few times and left it at that. I don't see where potentially jeopardizing the safety of everyone else on the road made him cool at all. Don't get me wrong, I like having fun on my bike too. But racing belongs on the strip not a busy street.

Potentially jeopardising safety?
What sort of miserable prick are you?
Why don't you just fuck off.
Go join a knitting club or something.

THERE'S the klavdy everyone is always talking about.

And I'm with him. Going fast =/= endangering others in all instances, and where it doesn't, it shouldn't be punished.

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.

Both.  I believe it's a Native American expression.

I believe that the Cop should have maintained a level of professionalism at all times.

I saw an update on this mornings news. The guy with the camera started an online petition & the Cop has been reinstated. Whether he will be riding another Cop bike or a desk is another thing.
