RPM 3/4" Bar Risers...

I recently contacted RPM & ordered a set of their 3/4" Handle Bar/Clip On Risers along with the Spin On Oil Filter Adapter. This is only the second time that I've bought anything from RPM, but both times I've been surprised by how quickly my order arrived. (I live in Oregon) I must say that the Oil Filter Adapter is one slick piece! I am waiting for my next oil change to install it, so I cannot comment on installation yet, but it appears that it will be easier to install then replacing the OEM filter arrangement.

Now about those measly 3/4" Bar Risers... I had been on the fence for about half a year or more about these Risers. I just couldn't really see how only 3/4" higher would make much difference. Oh how wrong was I! These Bar Risers are AWESOME! I was surprised that they arrived without any installation instructions, but they really don't need any. It's all pretty self explanatory. The quality of the parts & hardware are top notch to say the least & installation takes much less than an hour under the slowest of circumstances. The hardest part is just breaking loose & loosening the original allen head screws. I recommend that you completely remove the screws & cover their threads with either Blue Lock-Tite or some Anti-Seize before tightening them back up. This will help prevent the galvanic reaction that occurs & causes the threads to bind up.

The only trick that tripped me up, was that I tightened everything up before installing the decorative end caps that come with the kit. I thought they would snap into position after tightening, but that is not the case. So before tightening everything up, make sure you install the caps & align the RPM logo in the orientation that appeals the most to you, then tighten her up.

Now climb aboard your FJ & immediately notice that there is no longer any kink in your Neck! I'm shocked at how much difference a mere 3/4" makes in the comfort department. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to road test this set up yet, but plan to resolve that issue tomorrow morning. I have no doubts that I will be pleased with the results. If you have been considering these 3/4" Risers, but have been on the fence like I was... Just buy them. I highly doubt that you will be any less than completely satisfied.

Well I just returned from road testing my new 3/4" Bar Risers and I can say that they are worth every penny!!!

I noticed the difference as soon as the bike came off the center stand & I began to push it outside. I can push it around & maneuver it much easier. As far as the handling... I think the bike actually handles better. I hit the freeway at first & cruised up to my favorite off-ramp. Usually I have to let go of the bars a time or two to relax my hand & let the blood return, but not this time. Didn't need to use the throttle lock at all. Then when I hit the twisties, I came away with the impression that the bike indeed handled better, plus I can maneuver it around better. I dragged the foot-pegs through a turn on each side a couple of times today & I've never done that before on this bike.

I am very pleased with the risers. I had actually been considering selling the bike a little while back, due to the discomfort in my neck & hands, but she's a keeper now. If you are considering buying a set... Just do it! You won't regret it.

Should be slightly less weight on the front tires with them, because you're not leaning forwards as far.  Small negative handling change on the whole there.  But being more comfortable means less distraction from your poor numb and aching wrists, so big plus points to the handling there!

I bet you could lower the triple clamps a tad & get that front weight bias back, plus quicken the turning some. I doubt that I have put more than 500 miles on my bike since I bought it. I have a couple of bikes & usually switch around a bit. I'm just real pleased to finally be able to be comfortable on the FJ & I plan to put some miles on it now.

I assume you dont have to worry about new throttle/clutch cables etc because they still reach just fine?

I was told that was the reason that the risers are only 3/4". That's as far as the OEM cables & wires would stretch & still be able to turn lock to lock.
