Lasers are cheap and can be bought in a variety of applications for little money these days.  Lots of folks already have one.  Seems to me, it would not take a lot of effort to use and/or repurpose one of these to ensure that the front and back of each sprocket were all on the same plain.

Just a thought.

My wheel are from an 05 which creates other issues like axle diameters. Not insurmountable issues but not exactly plug and play.

Not exactly the same thing but I had been keen to try this for a while and had the chance last week when fitting new tyres.

A couple of cheap laser levels I already had.

I checked the accuracy of it by more traditional means after and it was spot on. Certainly a lot less mucking around.

Now all I need is that nice blue motorcycle lift !!!!!!!!!!   It's always something... :dash2:  Noel, I bought one of those auto darkening welding helmets. Works great except I haven't broken the habit of lifting the head piece after each weld   . Old habits are going to die hard.
