Nothing re invigorates the joy of riding the FJ like fresh rubber. (if you can avoid falling into the road for the first few corners.)
Throw in an overdue chain adjust and lube to tighten up the gear changes and transmission lash and everything is sweet again.
I also fitted a new rear disc and EBC HH pads that has returned a more positive feel to the brake (I have the FZR R brake, not the over sensitive standard unit)

After 3 sets of Conti RA 2's I went to the shop with half a mind to try the Metzeler Roadtec Z8's depending on what my tyre man had to say.

However, the tyres that were not quite available last time were now here, RA 2 GT's.

These are the same compound but with a stiffer carcass I believe. They are specifically made for heavy bikes and list all the popular makes and models they are recommended for, the FJR for example.

Too early to notice any difference but ain't new tyres lovely! Spring having sprung helps too.

Hard to beat a new set of skins...add in a bit-o-chain lube/adjustment and she feels new again!  :good2:

Noel, I fitted a pair of Road Attack 2 GT's back in March, just before going to the Bellingen Rally. I liked them very much but not having tried the non GT version, I can't comment on the difference between them. They were very good in both dry and wet conditions although I had a couple of pucker moments when the rear stepped out a couple of times when they touched painted centre lines in the wet. I must concede that I was probably traveling much quicker than I should have been in those conditions. I replaced them after doing around 6,750 kms on them. The rear would have had only about 1,500 kms left on so I decided to replace it just before doing a trip out to Broken Hill. I'd certainly buy another set of them again.
Hope you have a good run out of your new set.  Regards, Pete.     :i_am_so_happy:
PS Totally agree, nothing like new tyres!

I got mine on the road with the standard rim and an Avon rear. It had a Dunlop on before while I had it out for a month. In a word sloppy was the Dunlop. The Avon is a very comfortable ride. Well for me for now it is anyway. Wouldn't mind a set of handlebar risers next just to make it a bit more comfy. Still got the carbs to fine tune yet. Time is the issue, at least it's running.  :good2:
