Update:
The guy with the Goldwing was supposed to come today at noon so we could look at each other's bikes.
He texted early this morning and said, "I went riding yesterday and have a change of heart. Sorry to waist (sic) your time."
So it's down to the Nighthawk 750.
Probably too underpowered after riding the Fj1200 like Pat said.

No problem those older Goldwings are a dime a dozen. Your probably not going to be happy with the 750 for 2 up especally when you want to put bags etc. on her to go touring.

These are a few older Goldwings here in the middle of nowhere

How much are the bar riser kits? And where can I purchase? Sorry if I hijacked your thread.

Show your wife this photo with hard luggage and the Corbin backrest, maybe she won't think it looks as scary.

Along with the handle bar kit that Pat recommends. I configured these to move the foot pegs lower and forward. There is a noticeable difference compared to the stock foot pegs on my 87' FJ. The photo is a little hard to see pegs.

Hi Bminder. I've got bar risers on my FJ, and like them. (It took awhile at first, I was used to something more up and down.) But... Option two:
There's a guy in LA right now with an E-bay listing for a superbike-bar conversion kit. German made, looks good, no bars with it, but includes new brake master and custom lines. Asking $225-, listing expires on Oct. 6th. Might be worth a look. He has photos of it installed, so you know how it'll turn out. No clue if they're available retail.

Nope, I don't.
Not sure I could get the wife on it even with a backrest.  The bike looks too 'scary' for her with it's stance and all.

Try adding a set of luggage on the bike - including a top case.  That will help to create a "cozy" seating area and feel more secure.
