Oh, go on & whip them off and give them a damn good clean. Believe it or not Doc on  the Fudge site recommends you clean them out in the dishwasher!!! I read a report of a guy that tried it and the optimum temp is 40, not above. I'm definitely tackling mine over the winter as I want her running 100% for 2014! I can send you a couple of pdf's if you think the info would help?
