Good question....Hmmmm

With the polished head pipes, I think the polished fittings would look the best with the stainless lines.

I could go either way, polished (if you can get 'em) or black..

Disregard the above^^^ ..Please make 'em the anodized black fittings.

The clear coat on the polished fittings is just gonna cook off and turn yellow next to those head pipes....

Thanks Randy.

Not to burst your bubble Pat but heat will fade the Black Anodize finish. If you want it to survive the heat then you need a 2 step architectural finish. It deposits a metal to the surface that looks Black and will never fade. Bus window frames take a beating, I know, warranty issues.....
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Thanks Mark, I didn't know that. I didn't notice any fading on the red and blue fittings.

Ok, back to the original request....polished fittings.

If needed, I can always strip off the clear coat on the polished fittings and run the raw finish...like the rest of the bike. In the past, I have not had good luck with clear coat finishes (over polished aluminum) out here in the desert. Urethane clear over paint has been fine, no problem there..but over shiny aluminum, 2 to 3 years max before it yellows. On my expensive Spiegler brake lines, even the clear jacket over the stainless lines have yellowed from the sun (I should have got them in black instead of clear)
It even seems that the sliver color painted cars out here, tend to cook off the clear coats.

Ok Randy....make 'em polished...if you can... I'll deal with any yellowing later...no biggie.

I am not sure that anodizing will yellow or fade as there is no color to fade and the clear is not a color that can change from the reading I have done prior to the clear anodizing of the RPM fork brace.

I will inquire about that though with the manufacture.

Plus, I can get raw aluminum fittings if you really want to polish them all the time.

We will talk about it this week.

Anodize does not yellow, most anodize color is a dye just before the seal process. The dye will breakdown and fade with heat and radiation from sunlight. Red will fade to pink, good news for the pink stripe FJs, Blue, Green, Yellow and all dyed colors will fade with age and heat. And, aluminum also hardens with age (heat), depending on the grade of AL, 5052, 6061 or 70XX, it gets harder with age, sorry guys, just aluminum.  :shok:

I too will be interested in your findings mate. I got my wheels acid bathed, polished (not the centres) and clear coated almost 12 months ago...they haven`t faded nor chipped at all and the polished section is still real shiney......mmmm, but they have been wrapped undercover and never put on the highly strung FJ3!  :sorry:
Harvy & Co have threatened ta cut her straps cause she looks undignified being naked and hang`n off me shed roof!...so might have ta install`m on Manshed Day!  :yahoo: ...Would luv ta know if I should store the bike in the Dark and will Croc, Snake, Koala, Roo or Harley shit affect their serenity?  :drinks:

You can always get your bits ceramic coated Pat. Thats what I did when I got the headers coated in silver, had the header collars ceramic coated in gloss black. Looks good, no fading at all.
Darn, now that I think of it I should have got my RPM cooler done in a nice Candy blue or similar. Actually its not too hard to undo the lines, take it to my coaters..............     :yahoo:    Naaaah, just thinking out loud.
