While I was rotating the tire around to clean and lube the chain, I noticed it binding slightly.
It would also make a slight scuffing noise......................Sounded like it was coming from the front sprocket area, so off comes the sprocket cover...........

I noticed this lodged in there...........

Seems like my swingarm chain-guard gave up it's last piece.  :negative:

Since I had to take the shifter pivot linkage off to get the front cover off, I figured I should replace it with my good spare I purchased some time ago.........
My original one lost the rubber boots long ago, and was really sloppy............

I lubed the shift shaft where it comes through the sprocket cover with some synthetic grease, as well as the replacement shift lever pivot. I also greased under the linkage boots before I installed it on the bike............

It shifts smoother now, and is alot less sloppy...............  :good2:

Nicely done!  Find all the pivot/friction points...clean, lube and reassemble...makes a world of difference!

Y'know...Randy has a replacement rubber pad for that shifter.  It's nicer than the stock one...tapered slightly at the ends and is only a few bucks.
