Well, I've been home rom Alaska for a week now. Came home to numerous goody boxes fromRPM a nd other FJ porn sites. Here is a before pic of the front end

Installed new rotors,R1 calipers, RPM fork brace, RPM oil cooler kit, SS brake lines, new MC for brake and clutch and the RPM fork valve and spring kit. Removed and polished the header down tubes. So far I'm happy with the end results.

RPM rear shock is next, after the ECFR.

Very nice progress.
As long as you are polishing, hit those forks and fork brace while you are at it!

Will do... I'm a little sore right now. Header tubes took me a good 10 hours and a 12 pack. The brace will be easy but the fork tubes I think will go to chroming with the wheels.

Ten hours to polish up the headers, don't scare me off  I want to do mine,,,what did you use

If'n you'd gone to Harbor Freight's parking lot sale last weekend, you could've had one of these for $40.    :i_am_so_happy:

Nice work Scotty....so elaborate for us. What specifically is different with your mods installed?
What I mean is, we can see the difference, but we would love to hear is your first hand impressions on how it makes the bike feel.

I think that the RPM shock should come before your ECR....if you can possibly swing it.
One comment I keep hearing is from folks who have installed the RPM valves in their front end, and now how it amplifies just how shitty that oem shock performs.

Also, with the removal of the oem brackets that supported the old rubber brake lines, make sure you stack some washers between the fender tab and the threaded fork bracket, so you don't stress crack your fender tabs. The washers make up for the thickness of brake line support brackets you removed.

Kudos laddie, you've got the moditis bug for sure..... Pat

Thanks for the kudos and good call on the washers, I hadn't thought of that.
The first impression of the RPM fork valves came to me at the end of my driveway. There is an abrupt change in height where the driveway meets the road and its at an angle so before the mods I would feel a stiff jolt as well as the bars twisting. I literally felt nothing. So I intentionally searched out bumps and holes. impressive.
Equally impressive was the fork dive, or lack of when I leaned on the R1 calipers and SS brake lines, it feels like a new bike.

I used a medium grit 3m blending disc on a 1/4 in pneumatic angle grinder to remove the OEM coating.
Then I used White Diamond metal polish  with a 6in polishing buffer. Repeated application until I was satisfied
With the finish.

That's a very long time. I reckon an hour per pipe, start to finish, would cover it (yes, I've done it)

What did you use??
