Is there any aftermarket exhausts for my 85?
I'm looking ahead to next year for upgrades on my bike.

FJmonkey

Yes, sit tight and Randy at RPM will have them on the market, soon I hope... Any ETA Randy on your custom exhaust?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

What existing (used) exhausts allow you to change the oil without removing them. I know my supertrap does. My brother wants to replace his exhaust. And wants to know which ones to look for.

The super trap stainless steel internal disk that I had on my FJ, did require exhaust removal to change the oil. Also the Vans & Hines I have now requires exhaust removal or disconnecting left oil cooler line. Hope this helps.

The only exhaust that I know for certain that does not require removal to change the oil is the Standard SuperTrapp, and the SuperTrapp Super light full stainless w/regular disc muffler. Other brands for the FJ that I know of are D&D, Yoshimura, Vance & Hines Super Sport and SS2R, and Bassani. Finding these used is hit and miss and a lot of luck. You can still find the Vance & Hines Super Sport exhaust new on eBay. I know for certain that they have to be removed for an oil change, or remove the lower oil cooler line from the oil pan.

Here is a new Remus 4-2-1 with full oil plug access, not cheap and the add says they only have 1 available.

Here is a new Motad 4-2 full system that allows full oil plug access. eBay Germany and the seller ships world wide. Again not cheap.

Or you can wait and get the RPM exhaust when it is released. It will have oil drain access without removal.

My stainless suppertrap doesn't require it but it's not an internal disc model. It's one that was bought in 86. I wonder why they changed to making you have to remove them. Does anyone know of any others that don't require removal?
Thanks, Dan

I also remember Kerker making a few systems for the FJ. I had a Kerker 4-1-2 full system on my 85' 1100. I don't remember if it allowed oil plug access and I have not seen a used Kerker for sale.

I have a Suppertrap pipe extra in the garage. Too noisy for my taste. If you are ok with carb re-jet the Suppertrapp may work for you. We can work a price that works for you.
