I'm sure I'm not the 1st but don't know what to do. My '92 fj1200 front fender was ready to fall off. All the small mounting holes are completely gone and the main mounting holes are are very cracked and one is totally gone. Not sure if plastic welding would work. Can't find a single used one anywhere on the internet or locally. ANY SUGGESTIONS??

Not the correct color but RPM has new fenders http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=M%2FC%3AFJFF.
You can with some ABS plastic and glue and rebuild those tabs. I have done it. It takes time and a desire to do it.

I do believe the blue, silver, and the dark blue fenders are no longer available new from anywhere.

I think Randy @ RPM is able to still get the red and solid black front fender front halves.

FJowners club in the UK has black or white fiberglass versions available. The ad does mention up to a 28 day lead time.

Motorhead out of Spain also offers the front half and rear half as a set. Made of fiberglass and no holes drilled in the tabs. From others that have ordered bodywork from this site. There is a very long lead time. They actually lay-up your part after you place the order.

Basically you have 3 choices, troll along on eBay, possibly for months finding a 92' fender, or make a purchase from one of the above companies and obtain some color matched paint, or hopefully a fellow member has one available.

I used a metal shim behind the tab for extra strength when I glued it back on. Also, to prevent breakage in the future, get a fork brace. That really helps keep the forks from flexing the fender and breaking the tabs. It'll also help improve the handling.

I've got a brand new front half of the 92-93 fender #36y 21511-01-p2. $110.00 plus shipping.

Doesn't the bandit front fender work too????

edit: correct me if I'm wrong, but the 97-2000 bandit 1200 front fender will bolt on. They look identical but the bandit is all one piece

I just looked at them via the Suzuki parts and yes they are one piece. It is a different look/style to the fender and only uses the upper center four mounting bolts. If the bolt pattern is the same it might work.

The deal with that is they are expensive. The are priced new from $200.00-350.00 depending on the color you want to buy according to Suzuki.

You will also have to buy the "upper & lower brace" as it is flat and not curved like the FJ and that is around $55.00.

Since there is no outer mounting bolts, they use a "cushion" on each side of the fender on the sliders.

I personally cannot see how it would mount to the FJ forks as the tabs from the sliders require an top side fender mounting position and the Suzuki looks like it requires an under mount. The bottom of the FJ slider tabs are not flat like the top side, so there is not way to mount with out modifying the tabs and then the holes look like they are too far inboard.

It might work, but someone is going to have buy one and see what is required to get it to fit.

Thanks for the input
went digging thru a pile of fenders at local salvage today and found what was tagged as a '83 kz1000 that looked very similar to the Suzuki one you're showing. Little more flexible that the FJ abs plastic but they wouldn't budge on the $100 old price tag. Didn't want to pay that for a big maybe and all the scratches. May just have to order the one from RPM tonite and figure something out for the rear half.

Was wondering, but haven't found, if one from an XJ might be something to work with.

anyways...thanks & I'll let ya know what worked.

from what I recall, the Suzuki fender is used with the stock FJ OEM fork brace. The brace is  flattened straight and the Suzuki fender is mounted to it.

Are there any other Yamahas of the same time frame that have the same or very similar fork sliders?  Maybe would also have a compatible fender that may not be as hard to find?  Or am I dreaming?!

If you flatten the curve out of the stock FJ fender support it becomes longer and will not fit between the forks, properly at least.

I still cannot see how the bandit fender will mount to the tabs on the front forks of the FJ as they appear to me to be opposite of what is required, but I have not seen the bandit fender mounted.

Well, the FJ fender parts numbers do not cross reference to any other Yamaha model, so to find something that can bolt is will take the research, time & money to invest in similar fenders to see if they would fit.

For now, the front portion of the fender is readily available in red & metallic black.
