Taaa Daaa...

Well, the worst carbs I have ever seen have been completed and test run before getting ready to send the back.

I will take a few pictures internally when I drain the fuel bowls before shipping to be able to compare the before & after.

+4...What was that shit? Why did it foam like that? Was it the ethanol reacting with the brass? WTF?
Steve Conklin has a beautiful FJ he calls Thor...a Hank Scott 1350 with FCR's, a really bitchen bike.
Anyhoo...he has been riding a GSXR lately but when he pulled his FJ out to give it a run, his tank was full of green shit and rusty....just after a couple of months storage.

Here are a few shots of the inside.

I am not sure if there was anything other than gasoline in the tank. I smelled like varnish and had that goo usually associated to it as well. The corrosion internally was the steel needle seat hold down and screws that had all of the fuzz.

The float needles were stuck in the seats and that is from the varnish.

There is a ton of work that must be done to the rest of the fuel system before bolting these onto the bike and that is going to be the biggest challenge as there is no way to dip the tank in cleaner...

So it that what they look like after an ultrasonic cleaning or are there some new components thrown in there also?

They were completely disassembled and cleaned. I had to use, my hot water washer, ultrasonic as well as carb dip on this set.

For the parts I used the S/S Screw & O-ring kit and four of the 88-95 Carb Kits.

I've got a spare '89 tank that'll be cleaned up for the '89 right after the ECFR, so I'll probably take the (ugly, damaged paint) one currently on it to get the '90 going.

The '90 fuel pump and lines have been removed... If I'm not successful at cleaning the '90 tank, Plan B is to have the inside of the old '89 tank, blasted, red-koted, and paint it either satin black or black Line-X.

Found these on the porch today:

Thanks Randy for your top-notch work!      :good2:

I never would have believed that those could be used again, let alone look presentable.    :nea:
