Been stalking the other Yahoo list on and off for a while, no real improvement since I 'whined' about the list having changed for the worse.  Seems to me, what was lost there was the natural friendship and generous knowledge sharing, the fellowship -if you like, and general respect for one another.  I have some hope that what was lost there, can be recreated here.

If I can offer some unsolicited advice; respect your fellow citizens, and think twice about criticizing other listers simply because you don't like the content of their post.  Sometimes the best 'response' to a distasteful post, is none at all.

In the interest of providing a little motorcycling content at least, the Gixxer SevenFiddy is sitting primed for warmer weather.  It's got fresh oil, brake fuilds, coolant.  Fairings have been removed, cleaned on all sides, in fact, the bike's been cleaned from the inside out.  Chains' clean and adjusted, every bolt I can see/ reach has been torqued or at least tightened to what 'feels' about right, -(if I could not find a torque #).  It's so clean, I am reticent to take it out for a spring ride, 'cause it'll get dirty!  Funny, I'm worried about breaking the 'dirt seal'.  It'll happen, likely when the itch overwhelms to desire to have a clean bike.  But right now there's still snow on the ground, I'm just not that anxious.

Every and all mods I have done is to, one way or another, soften the cruel ergos inherent to this bike.  Heli-bars, softer grips, tank griping material, taller wind screen, ambient temp gauge,  I realize I am a minority among the demographics associated with the Gixxer, most are frankly; squids, that seems to be courting self de-selection from their particular gene pool at ever ride.

I have 4 bikes in the garage just now.  2 are not mine though.  -The aforementioned 750 - and my wife's' Ninja 250 -fun bike let me tell you!  A buddy of mine moved out of the country, and left me his Honda Shadow Sabre 1100, and CRF250 to tend to, possibly sell.

Stay cool folks,

Dan

Hey Dan!  Good to see you posting again...

Chat with you in Boone this spring over an order of scrapple, perhaps?

Hey Dan, good to hear your still 'round.  I've been drawn to the dark side with GSXR ownership as well.  07-1K for the street and an 08-.75K for the track.  The 08 is headed for GMD Computrak this week for a once over to make sure the frame etc. is straight before I put the race bodywork on it.  I did the LSL top clamp and 1st Gen FZ-1 bars on the 1K plus another 20mm spacer to get the bars up high enough for my aged arse.  Also shimmed the fairing up around 10mm so the masters clear and added a steering stop to limit the lock to lock travel.

The demands of family life will make Boone a long shot, but scapple on the other hand, at least once per week.

Take care!

Steve-

Good to hear your still around as well!  On your bar mods, I'm curious to see if you had to extend the throttle and/ or break lines.  With the Heli-Bars I put on, they provided a fair amount of description for stacking the throttle lines, one over the other to prevent catching on the ignition core.  I did this, and it still caught!  Would have been dangerous as hell!!  I would up fashioning a stiff wire to hold the cables down, below the ignition core.  I check it a few times a year because I can see, like that silly little pet-cock friction fitted "L" connection, it's the little things that will prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the laws of unintended consequences will drag you down to the ground, teeth first, if you give it half a chance...

Any way, I was curious with, what sounds like a more dramatic rise/ run to the bars than I did, you too would need to do something, even possibly replace lines.  I guess it's also possible that they left you extra for the '07 1K -mine is a '02 .75 -maybe there's a difference?  Curious if so.

Stay in touch,

Dan
