So I go to buy some valve shims and the price is $8 per shim. Is that right or am I been screwed. Why so expensive.?

Buy some of ebay or if you have a motorcycle salvage yard see if they sell them used. They are 25mm O.D. The Honda cb's use the same shims and other models. Hope this helps. Also measure the shims just because it says the size doesn't mean that is right.

That is actually pretty cheap, I sell them for $6.71. I have heard of dealers selling them for as high as $20.00. Some dealers will exchange them for you if you inquire.

You can also donate to the FJowners.com website and rent the club valve adjusting shim kit.

If you go to a dealer to see if they will exchange shims, then I recommend you go straight to the service department first and ask there first.
