i need to deal with my rusty fuel tank

first; anyone got any they would like to "rent" me?
or
suggestions on an easy to make block off plate and gasket
thanks for any help
i am going to try the electrolysis method
the fuel tank is an '86

the fan

I usually find what I need at the hardware store.

A small block of wood and a small piece of rubber cut from an old innertube work well for odd shaped openings, Rubber conical plugs work for most small round openings, and an expandable rubber plug found in the plumbing section (usually called test plugs) work well for the large round holes.

I have never done electrolysis, but these methods work well with an acid bath. I usually use a CLR type product (Zep brand is less than $10 a gallon) diluted with water. Chase it with a solution of baking soda to neutralize the acid and rinse with denatured alcohol to remove as much water as possible.

If I am not reinstalling the tank immediately I dump in a few ounces of WD-40 to ensure all the water is gone and let it air dry.

I will look for the ones that I used tomorrow. I would send them to you.
