Can anyone direct me to information on how to adjust the rear shock (spring) on my 89 FJ. Didn't get a owners manual and my Haynes has nothing showing or explaining. Dampening is pretty straight forward but haven't seen anything like the spring setup.  Thanks

If its the standard shock, just to the left of the main numbered adjuster,  there should be an upright shaft with a moveable steel cover that lifts up to reveal a 14mm?? nut , this adjusts the spring preload via a chain
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

We have lots of neat stuff in the Files Section.
I just checked, you can down load a owners handbook for your '89 here: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=3483.0

Just like the Files Section, the Yamaha FJ1200 owners handbook has lots of neat goodies in it...
