So, day before yesterday me and the Mrs. had an errand to run. We figured we'd take the FJ, get there and back before the rain.

Got there, no problem. She talked to who she needed to talk to, I waited. Meanwhile, the rain started. We waited out the first charge, then ventured out figuring that we aren't going to melt from a little drizzle.

It rained a bit until we got off the highway and my fuel light started blinking. We pulled into a gas station as the wind was picking up. Just as I got done fueling the wind got nasty, the rain started really pouring and the electricity went out. The wind was blowing water under the small roof of the station, so we figured getting wet in place is the same as getting wet while moving, and home isn't that far away. So, off we went.

One block out the wind really picked up. The water was blowing in flurries low to the ground, like snow. The pavement was covered in a couple of inches of water. There wasn't any place to stop, and turning around to the gas station didn't seem like that great an option, so we kept going.

By the time we got to the bridge I couldn't see the lane markings. Not quite sure how, but we got across the bridge. My underwear filled with water and it was pouring into my boots.

When we came to the corner to turn into our street the bike started steering kinda odd. I put my feet down, and that felt kinda weird, too. That was when I realized we are about knee deep in water. Fortunately, it wasn't up to the intakes, and we made our way through.

The alley was also flooded, but not as deep. We rode right on to the driveway, which is higher. The storm knocked out power to half the city, so we were undressing in the dark, standing in the bathtub. Amazing how much water clothes can hold...

Heck of an interesting ride this turned out to be...

I always try to get in a little rain riding around town, just to keep in practice. Last place you want to learn and find out how the bike handles in the rain is on the interstate, a long way from home.  Good Skiing..
