Gas gauge sending unit in tank...

So I've been using vinegar to de-rust the gas tank, and tonight I drained the 2nd batch and I noticed that the float on the sending unit came off... So I'm thinking about removing the sending unit from the bottom of the tank and seeing if I can reattach the float.
My question is: If I take off the sending unit base on the bottom of the tank, can I re-use the gasket or will I need a new one when I go to put it back on so it doesn't leak?

I have had mine out twice before without replacing it with a new one but if you can get one easily enough it should be replaced. I just was lucky it didnt leak.

I've remove my sender at least 3 times, still using original gasket  :good:
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

OK, well, I took the 4 bolts off, pulled out the sending unit, fished the float out and snapped it back in, tightened the 2 tiny screws that held some bracket on the sending unit and put it all back in.
We'll see if the gasket holds, it was  little chewed up in one spot. I'll see if Randy can send me one just in case.

Randy now has them in stock.... I had him order one for me, and he said he would be adding them in case anyone else needed one.  Just got it and some other stuff in the mail today....  Including petcock seal, and fuel filter bracket (the rubber thing that attaches the filter to the tank).
Gotta do my tank, some rust developed over the last couple years, somehow.

Rich is correct Randy has them but we've been way too busy to add them to stock, I was suppose to photograph them so they can be listed, if you want one get in and order it now oops forgot they are not listed on the page but if you want it they are all available :good2:
