I have my FJ torn down just a bit to get my DDM Tuning HID 55W 5000K headlight installed and red LED dash light bulbs installed.
The 91+ FJ is cramped for space to mount the ballast and associated pieces of the wire harness, but I finally found a place for it all.
My son has been in serious need of an oil change and some new rubber on his Honda 919, and he liked the look of  the Michelin Pilot road 3, so we had the AC running in the garage and changed the oil and both tires on his bike and put a new Q2 on the front of my FJ.
With him not living at home any more, it was a wonderful afternoon to spend with him getting some mutual motorcycle therapy in on a warm summer afternoon.

I'm so blessed to have a son that is so interested in motorcycles as I am! Thank you Cory!

You'll like the HID Leon.  Is that a 6000K bulb? Looks tight on the ballast, not much room to the forks in that spot.  I screwed a 12 gauge aluminum plate to the right side of the fairing stay and attached all of the HID components to that.  Snug, but it all fits.

How does Cory like the 919 compared to the CBR?

It's the 5000K
I know it looks close under the fairing, but it all clears.
I can't wait to ride it at night and get the aim adjusted properly.

Cory really likes the 919 for an everyday rider, around town and back and forth to work and school.
I think he is going to like the Michelins we put on.
They looked great, IMHO.

I have those PR3s on my Ducati Hyper and have been hyper impressed.  They feel as stable as the Q2s on the FJ and appear to be wearing longer, although that could be from 200# less bike riding on them I suppose... :pardon:

I might try them on the second set of FJ wheels...  they are pretty great in the wet and the Q2s are a bit slippery, especially over a tar snake.  The sipes or whatever they are called really hook up and you don't generally slip on wet snakes.  I don't like riding in the rain much, but if caught it would be nice to have more wet grip as long as the dry grip/feel and even wear is similar to the Q2s (too early to tell after about 4K on the Duc).

Sure do like the Q2s though...

I've got somewhere around 7k miles on my PR3 rear.  Still has a lot of life left.. Very impressive tire.  Will buy one again when necessary.

I'm a little :shok:, his honda actually looks ok,  just don't tell anyone I said that

Leon,

I've put PR3's on my FZ1, Tiger and now the KTM.  They work as advertised.

Compared to some of the bikes I've owned, the FJ fairing is cavernous.

I'm jealous of the time you got to spend with your son.  Met him in CO and he seemed like a nice young man (must take after his mom ).  Since my son graduated, moved out and got a job, I think his interest in bikes is gone.

Frank- I have the same impression about the PR3s. They have a look of quality. I think they will be my next tire of choice, thanks for the feedback.

Garth- That is great news! doubles what I have been getting out of my Q2s!

fj11.5- I have to admit, the 919 is a nice bike, and the fuel injection is a pure joy to experience!

Carey- Thanks for your input on the PR3s, I feel like I might be a new customer for that brand in the near future.
Your very kind, in respect to my son. He is my best friend when it comes to motorcycling.
I'm very proud of him and I feel like the luckiest man on earth to be able to call him, mine!

He still has the CBR, Alan, along with his first bike, a 1986 Yamaha Radian.
He's had the 919 a year before he bought the CBR1000RR.
He really is a motorcycle guy!
You can't just have one, ya know!

Thanks, and Happy Birthday!
