The wimpy factory horn, that even I can barely hear over the sound of my own FJ!   :negative:

So, I added a 5th circuit to my auxiliary fuse block...........Tucked the new power wire neatly inside my wire conduit that runs to the front under the bodywork, to the new relay that is switched by the original horn wires.

I started out with this..................

But it was just too large to find a place to mount it anywhere except up under the tail section(which is occupied by my tool bag). I didn't want it just hanging off the side of the FJ either.................................So I carefully cut the trumpets off of the compressor, and mounted the compressor where the factory horn mounts, right next to the new relay..

There is plenty of room around it, so it won't contact anything during steering lock..............There is also plenty of room between it, and the front fender so as not to hit it during suspension compression.........

Next, I cut and ground off as much as I could to make the trumpets as small as possible, and threaded a brass fitting into the air inlet hole so I could run a hose from the compressor.............I mounted it neatly hidden inside the chin fairing, and ran a length of heavy duty hose down the frame(for now.............. I plan on fabbing up a hard line from the steering head, down the frame to make it more permanent.)

Unless you are looking for it, you wouldn't even know it was there............You can barely see it.(I plan on shooting the compressor with some flat black spray bomb to make it less noticeable)

And the sound in my closed garage is DEAFENING!
A great improvement! :good:

Firehawk, I've had one of those on my bike for a couple of years although many people complain of premature failures with them. The trick seems to be periodic lubrication. The compressor dries up. When it gets sluggish I disconnect the inlet and outlet and put some 3 in 1 into it and run it until it stops spitting out the outlet and it springs back to life.

They sure are loud.

Good idea firehawk,  I bought a horn like that a while ago to put on the bike, but couldn't find room anywhere, so it ended up on the wife's car, but not for too much longer now after seeing that.

And yes, it is very LOUD!!!
