Since it was in the mid-80's here on Sunday, I decided to hop on the FJ and head for the mountains for the afternoon................

Entered the hills via Deer Creek Canyon over in Littleton, then wound my way up through Myers Gulch, and Kerr Gulch...........Made my way to Lookout Mountain..

Overlooking the town of Golden......

The Coors Brewery.......

And Denver.......

Heard a buzzing sound nearby, so I looked up and noticed someone paragliding.........I would love to try this!

I made my way down the Lookout Mountain "Racetrack".......

Headed into Clear Creek Canyon, and towards Idaho Springs where I headed north..........

Some old Railroad machinery on display in Central City......

Headed north up the 119, through Rollinsville, and Nederland where it was mile after mile of spectacular scenery..................

Continued north through Ward, and Peaceful Valley, then turned onto the 7 and continued north through Allenspark.......

I came across an awesome stone church, built up out of the rocks...........

Here it is............The Northernmost "Fourteener" in the entire Rocky Mountain chain, from New Mexico all the way to northern British Columbia..........

I continued north on the 7 to Estes Park............The weather was starting to turn as I rolled into town, so I didn't stay long.
I headed down the 36 through Boulder, and back home.........

Saw some of the Elk that are always hanging around downtown...........

And the Stanley Hotel.........................

It ended up being a great ride, and the perfect way to spend my afternoon :good:
Total mileage covered was 224, and the best part about it was I did it on 1 tank of gas!
The fuel light came on as I was heading down the 225 in Aurora, and about 2 blocks from my house, I had to hit the reserve switch...........
I filled her up the following morning on my way to work, and she took 4.8 gallons..........I worked it out to 46.6 miles per gallon......That is the best mileage I have ever got since I've owned her. :good2:

Excellent ride report -great pictures -thanks.  I rode my FJ through many of these sames roads when I lived there.  I miss that area, especially this time of year.

As for Longs Peak, I've hiked that one, in one day!  It turned out to be 20 hard miles (it was supposed to be 16.5...) but we got it done, we finished the last 2 miles in the dark, but we had not started until 9AM.  (If you're hiking that peak in 1 day you are supposed to start at 5:30 or 6:00 at the latest. -we had been drinking the night before you see....).
