What kind of Shims are you using?

I hay used the Forumsearch without a result.Yamaha give us the shims in 0,5 gradient.That can sometimes be to great or to low.
I have found out,that Honda Shims have a different gradient.Yamaha have such as 260,265 and 270.Hond also have 262,268 and so on.So you can fix the valve clearance.I hope i give you a good Tip.G Andy

Yamaha did/does make intermediate sizes but they only install them in new bikes from the factory so the only way to get them is dealer service dept. stocks from when the do valve adjustments and remove one.

I just performed a valve adjustment on some bikes, and found one in mine that was listed as a 2.78mm. Had to ponder that, as all the others I encountered were all in 0.5 mm increments.

Follow the service manual. It tells you how to exchange shims of half sizes. They are not required as you can get the adjust set within the range Yamaha recommends without having to get half sizes.
