I participated this forum several years back.  However, 3 years ago I sold my 92 FJ to a friend after I purchased a 07 FJR.  Just recently, my friend indicated that he needed to sell the FJ and I jumped on the opportunity to bring it back into "the family".  Unfortunately, it looks like it will need a bit of maintenance.  The first step being a carb rebuild to get it running again.

Looking forward to getting back on the FJ again and reconnecting will all of you. The FJR is still around as it has been heavily farkled for Long Distance competitive riding.  This July I will be participating in my 2nd Iron Butt Rally for those of you familiar with the long distance insanity  :good2:.  Make sure you say hi if you are at the stop/checkpoints/finish.

Welcome back FNNG, always welcome to attend here, all you need to be is decent and a contributor. Many have come and gone and others have joined and stayed. This group is just that, we either fit or do not, FJ not required... I love this place...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I'm currently waiting for my certification... Did the bun burner and saddle sore in the same ride last November right after I got the FJ!

The rally, though, that's another matter entirely. Isn't that incredibly difficult to get to participate in? Random drawing and such?

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.

Thanks all for the welcome.  Good to be back.  I removed the carbs tonight.  I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to work on a bike that does not take a couple of hours to remover plastic just to gain access to the part you want to work on!

Congrats on your recent cert rides.  I did my very first SaddleSore on my FJ.  The Iron Butt Rally (IBR) can be difficult to get into.  There are many who try for many years to get in.  I consider myself very fortunate as I qualified for the 2011 IBR by completing the Iron Butt 5000 in 2010 (i.e. 5000 miles in 5 days).

I just found out my certs are being shipped on Tuesday! :D

And that sounds like a lot of riding, amigo. I tip my hat in your direction.  :hi:

Most people who 'upgrade' to an FJR I will never understand. But when you put on the miles like that, it is completely reasonable.

Glad to have you back here. I'd love to follow you during the rally, if scores are posted or anything; I'll be rooting for you. :)
