As everyone on here would know, the old fj has a bit of grunt, but to put that in perspective, on a ride a couple of years ago I got up beside my older brother on his Suzuki gsx 1400 doing about 100kph, looked at him with a jerk of the throttle and it was on. we both pinned the throttle in top gear and the old fj just walked away from him. upset he was beaten he knocked it down a gear and tried again, this time neck and neck. still not happy he knocked it down another gear to finally pull away from me.

The gsx1400 has been called the 2 wheeled tow truck because of the grunt it's got, but to drop down 2 gears to beat me, what's that say about the fj.

On a recent ride I got beside my younger brother on his 1500 6cyl Goldwing, the difference this time, I had my missus on the back with me, same again 100kph roll on, bye bye Goldwing.

On a deserted country road I gave it a burst and got to 210kmh but backed off because the road was rough as guts, my gonads aren't big, and I didn't want skippy making a sudden appearance in front of me.

These bikes might be getting old, but they certainly aren't getting soft.

Too young to be old but old enough to know better.

The General

Hey Tony, the guy I just sold FJ2 to, sold his fairly new GSX 1400 so he could buy an FJ for his round Australia trip.
On the road to Beaudesert once I had a two up Harley overtake close on the inside when I had wifey on as pillion. He got caught behind a cage on double yellow lines with double lanes coming up at 5oo metres. I heard him drop back a gear just as the lane opened up while I just rolled on the throttle...well ya can guess what happened...but I seriously came close to an accident as I thought he would at least accelerate substantially... (I had ta brake at the last second cause wifey didn`t want me to pass)..The ribs were sore for a week... :sarcastic:

Yesterday a kid on a KTM motard merged into our group of three riders and proceeded to pass me. WTF?  We approached a cruiser as we left town and he decided to pass into oncoming traffic to show me how fast his little thumper was. Well that was enough for me. After traffic cleared it was wide open throttle, no need to downshift and almost knocked the poor little bugger over with my Jetstream. Yup 220k comes real quick on a FJ!! KOkaloo

Much to my surprise, a late model BMW 1200 boxer (GS) will match the FJ excatly from 80kph in top gear, and that's on a 6 speed box. The FJ starts to pull away in triple digits though.

Those things are real stump pullers!
