How do I get the snap ring out?  All the snap ring pliers I've found are too fat to get in there... does anyone know of a set of pliers that is thin/long enough to get the snap ring out of the clutch master cylinder?  I even took it to one of the local bike shops & they just use a generic Sears plier that is too fat...

What I did was take a pair of needle nose pliers that will reach and file the tips to fine points.

& the Harbor Freight ones were able to reach that snap ring?  If so, I'm running to Harbor Freight tomorrow morning!

I'm sure Yamaha would sell you a special tool for it (probably about $75 LOL) but I used Sears #947411 - if you pull the tips out far enough that the set screws just barely catch the tips, they're just barely long enough - that was how I did mine.

And a word to the wise: If you do get one of these, make sure you get one that has the little plastic packet of tips. It seems that those packets have a tendency to disappear out of the packaging, right on the shelf!
