leaking fuel

Darn it, had a "Monday" and decided to run up to the storage unit and take the FJ for a nice, much needed ride.

The whole tank drained out........

Never had that happen before, hope it never happens again.

Sucks when a crappy day goes from bad to worse, but you know, sometimes we have those days.

New carbs or try the o-rings again, crap, timing probably could of been worse.....

I read the o-rings are supposed to be 7x1.5 rather than the 7.5x1.5 I used -

Maybe that was it.....

Anyone have the correct o-rings?

Wish I had $500.00 for a set of carbs - and that Randy had a set!

With the temperature setting all time highs, I wanted to ride - but alas, no fuel and had the "issue" to deal with.

Pulled the carbs, if it took a half hour I'd be surprised.







Had to remember how I pulled the float pins last time -



Ah, one way, kind of like - uh, never mind -



Tried to keep everything organized









I think I found the problem -







I was on my way to Randy's web site to order new float valves, but decided top make a call locally first - FOUR IN STOCK 





Put is all back together and I was out riding!







Now they are calling for snow, but that is OK, time to install the spin on oil filter adapter that I scoffed at only a few years ago.....

Hey Steve, having the tank drain out happens with the gravity fed '84-87 FJ's when our vacuum petcocks go bad...along with our float needles...but this is the first time I've heard this happen with a fuel pump model.

Good on ya for fixing those carbs...but with the fuel pump shut off...you should not be getting any gas to the carbs to begin with...let alone draining your tank dry.
Fill your tank full and then (with the key off) disconnect the output fuel line from the pump......if gas continues to trickle out, something's wrong.
would keep a eye on that fuel pump.

...but this is the first time I've heard this happen with a fuel pump model.

Mine ('93) does it occasionally when it's having a bad day, that's why I took a spare pump on my last trip.
