One bad thing about disassembling your FJ a month and a half ago..............

When it comes time to put it back together, it's hard to remember what screws and bolts went where? :flag_of_truce:
Luckily, I put alot of the screws next to the part as I laid it out on the garage floor.....................

when I started putting her back together, I noticed this  :negative:
Not sure how long it could have been like this, but this is the hose that goes from the #2 intake up to the "Boost Sensor"

I got out my trusty pack of vacuum supplies, and spliced it back together.

Next, I moved on to the "Euro" lefthand switchgear, that included the proper pigtail for my FJR1300 clutch safety switch.

However, I then found out that the clutch safety switch operated the reverse of what it's supposed to, so I opened it up, removed the middle wire, modified and moved the outer wire to the middle slot, snapped it back together. It then operated properly.

Alan sorry to hear that you will not be at WCR this year. Congrats on the new job!!! Good to see that the FJ is coming together. Think about Colorado rally in July, even if it is just for a day. Best wishes to you and your family.

Good catch on the vacuum hose....  :good2: I went out and checked mine at the same location and found a very slight amount of abrasion on the hose where it touches and cross's the oil cooler before the first factory tie down. Not leaking but it is in a vibration/wear/higher heat area. My plan it to slice down a larger rubber hose and make a "shield".

Without the "boost sensor" working properly, as I understand it the sensor works as a ignition timing advancer (converting the vacuum to and electronic signal for the control box) so you would have been down a bit on power, the idle would have been higher and little leaner #2 Cly... Oh an less MPG for what ever that is worth  :rofl2:.
When I say advancer it would also retard when appropriate.

Please forgive me if my assumption's are incorrect, I am just writing while thinking....... I am no expert mechanic, just a surviving one...  Inquiring minds and all.. :morning1:

I am sure the vacuum leak could cause a number of engine running issues............One being the lean running of cylinder #2, and also not advancing the timing properly under various engine loads.............I just put a splice on there for now, until I upgrade the oil cooler. I'll replace the whole vacuum line at that time......
