Hi All...

Just recently bought an FJ1100 with aftermarket mirrors that tend to fold back at speed.  While these make for excellent reminders for speed traps, it's putting a damper on my fun.  I'm looking for replacement mirrors that...

- Are high quality - cost not too much of an issue
- Looks integrate well with the bike.
- Allow me to see past my shoulders and midsection
- Don't require a boat load of modification.

Any suggestions?

They don't fold back to remind you of speed traps on FJs. They do that to reduce wind resistance and increase Kookalooo..... At those speeds, who cares whats behind you, its whats in front that you have to watch.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I have Rizoma mirrors on my '84 and I love them. Less wind buffeting and quieter than the oem mouse ears. Excellent glass and optics. Expensive $$

Hi Pat.  Did you need an adapter?   If so, which one?  I'm looking at the Rizoma Edge.

Thanks for your help.

I looked at the Edge, but I wanted a larger mirror. Yes, you do need the handlebar adaptors, sorry I missed that. Here's what I used:

The adapter comes with the standard M10 thread for the left mirror and the reverse thread M10 Yamaha used on your right mirror.
Easy peesey.

I to will change my stock mirrors. On my new top fairing i will have to drill out all the holes for mounting it, should i then drill out hols for the cbr mirrors instead of the fj? Any views or thoughts?

Cheers

The CBR mirrors mount to the stock FJ mirror bases. No drilling required, some minor grinding might be needed for the CBR stalks to clear the FJ bases. Quite simple..

Thanks Monkey :i_am_so_happy:
I saw the mod you did on your bike with the CBR mirrors and it looks really good! Did you fabricate that angled plate your self?

I don't think i manage to express my self clearly, well, actually it was a poorly formulated question from my part.
What i was trying to ask was, do the CBR mount fit the FJ fairing? I'm guessing it won't  :greeting:

no the cbr mount wont fit, , not unless you really wanted it to, , the fj mounts stay on the bike and just bolt the cbr mirrors to them,  easy upgrade
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it
