Ideas you come up with while drinking... #1 Webbers on a UJM inline 4.

A couple of close friends and I get together most Thursday nights in my mates shed and have a couple whilst sitting around a brake drum fire. We generally solve a lot of the worlds problems while drinking to excess.

Last night in conversation we were talking about getting my mates Kawa 1100 mobile again. Anyhows, one of us suggested replacing the 4 carbies with a single carbi and a custom built manifold. (One mate owns a muffler shop and said he could fabricate the manifold no worries.)

During the conversation I remembered that a lot of the Triumph triples had a different jet in the middle carb, something to do with the centre cylinder ran hotter than the outside ones so they give it more fuel than the outer pots. Now what I am wondering is if this sort of jetting is common. Like on our FJ's, or any Jap inline 4, are the jets the same in every carb, or are some different, like on a Triumph triple?

Anyone ever seen a setup like I am describing?

Same jetting for all 4 carbs on the FJ - can't comment on the Kwaka. Correct on the old 3 cylinder BSA Rockets and Triumph Trident - both mine ran richer on the middle cylinder.

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.

My kids '88 FZR1000 uses different jets for the inner and outer two carbs.  If I get a chance I'll look up which ones are fatter, but I posted a service manual here in the files section for anyone who is interested.

I had an XV1000RH, aka TR1,  (air cooled V-Twin) that used Hitachi carbs.  The FRONT cylinder was jetted slightly richer.  Never understood why.

I believe there have been problems with Webbers on bikes as they didn't like the roll when you banked over.
