So I went and lost the screw that holds the choke knob on my 92. Any ideas? do I have to purchase a whole new assembly? Randy are you out there?

2.5 x 6 mm.  You can order one from any Yamaha dealer.  Though it isn't listed on the FJ's fiche, it is listed on the FZ750's.  A cheaper solution would be to go down to the local Hardware store. Yamaha will give you the opportunity to pay around $4.00 for that darling little screw, but ACE Hardware had them for about .30.

Hope this helps.

Thanks FeralRdr, what year FZ750?

Sorry Andrew, should have included that earlier.  '85 is the year.  To be clear, you should be able to find those at your local hardware stores for about .30; the OEM one will set you back around $2.00 to $4.00 (USD).    Also, I strongly recommend using some locktite on the replacement one.

i had the same problem not long ago, Ace hardware didn't have one, but found a little hole in the wall hardware store that had them, bought 3, so to have 2 spares, cost a total of 13 cents for the 3 screws, Glad i got 3, cus just a week later it fell out again, So this time I used a little lock-tight, All good  now

Had same problem when I went to reassemble my fairing once I had located all the parts....except that damn screw!!  Went all over town and finally retapped the hole to a standard common size....

If you use loctite, use Purple-for small fasteners..... Otherwise, you may not be able to get the screw out when you want to.
