Any suggestions on what can be used to repair the elbow where the fuel line goes into the tap? Mine came off as i was wiggling the fuel pipe off.
Looks like it was put together with the hairy stuff plumbers use. Would like to do something fairly permanent and then fit another connection so as not to disturb the elbow again. Seems to be a little rust inside the tank also.

Don't know if anyone has repaired one after falling apart. I JB welded and safety wired mine when I had my tank off after the stories posted of FJs burning to a crisp from this failure. Buy a new one and make sure it is wired for safety. Randy's are pre-wired.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Mine came apart, then i safety wired it....HEY! that might be my leak. Ill try teflon tape AND wire next time im almost empty.

I used Loctite and a tie-wrap on mine.  Just make sure you get it set to the correct angle before you glue it in place.

Uh, you may want to make CERTAIN you repair this before you ride, or even start that bike again....

Loctite and jb weld on my fuel tap ,, the hairy stuff plumbers use would be hemp, , don't think I would be using that on a fuel tap, used to use it fitting fire sprinkler systems , turns nasty after awhile , get that in your carbs be kicking yourself
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

Ill do the locktite next time im empty, I check the wire every time i have the tank off, which, unfortunately, has been pretty often lately. But im looking to replace it all with a different setup.

Ok, loctite and safety wire will suffice for a wee while. Thanks all. :good2:

Use the green, "wicking" loctite..... it'll get in the nooks and crannies.  If anyone has one that hasn't come apart yet, I'd do the green loctite just in case.

Any reason why it couldn't be soldered in place? Seems to be a multitude of loctites , any specifically work better for this application?

Getting close to pushing the start button now. Managed to get a fella to solder the pin hole in my tank and came out great. Fuel tap was dripping for a while but left it on the bench overnight and it stopped , little o ring just needed some time to swell.
Can anyone tell me if the fuel tap elbow should go on at a right angle or up slightly'/down slightly?
Have returned the mixture screws to 2 turns out as per the Haynes is this a good starting point? ( have just put on a 4 into 2 Motad )
