After working the past two days out in the yard, I decided a spirited FJ ride was in order.

With no particular place to be, and very mild Florida weather, I decided to visit Sebastian Inlet State Park (about 18 miles south of Melbourne, Florida)

I knew one of my taillights was out, but the other decided to go out somewhere along the way. By the time I reached Melbourne Beach, I had drivers telling me that I had brake lights, but no tail light.

Pulled into a gas station, and purchased a pair of dual-filament bulbs.

Interestingly, the ABS computer and associated relays are all crammed under the tail section, making it impossible to reach the bulb sockets directly. Thankfully, all I had to do was move the computer out of the way, and remove two allen-head bolts that hold the bracket for the ABS relays and stuff. A couple of minutes later, and the bulbs were replaced with fresh ones.

Total time expended: about 30 minutes. That included filling up with gas, potty break, and a cup of coffee.

The surf at the inlet was pretty rough. It was about two hours prior to low tide, and none of the fishermen appeared to be catching anything. They have built a new two-story structure on the north side of the park, but it was not yet open to the public.

Continued south to Vero Beach, then east on Highway 60. Pondered continuing on to Lake Wales, then up Highway 27, but it was getting late, so I just hopped on the Florida Turnpike for a speedy ride back to Orlando.

Jeez! I *WISH* people would stay to the right, and only use the left lane when passing. gripe, grumble...

Anyway, not much to report, but I sure like riding my FJ. It keeps up with (and passes) traffic with no effort AT ALL!

Regards,

Steve
