Hi Everyone,
Picked up my newly acquired 89 fj1200 the other day.  Was idling very high on the way home (2400rpm) and after I stopped for a while, when I went to restart, it revved very high for 2 sec. then quit.  Hasn't restarted since.

I'm guessing choke cable (in my dreames) or more likely carbs clogged from sitting 2 or 3 years.

Thoughts?
Thanks.

Yep,
1) Might as well start with a complete disassembly and cleaning of your carbs. You need to get to know them sooner rather than later. Review the helpful info. In the Files section.
2) Get thee a carb rebuild kit from RPM.
3) Beg, borrow, or buy a set of carb sync. gauges. A cheap investment rather than going to a (st)dealer...

4) Get over to the introduction section and tell us about yourself, before you suffer a monkey bite.....

Cheers

Also check the condition of the rubber intake manifold boots. My brothers 86 had cracked intake boots and ran very similar to what you described.
