UK Members; Help and/or advice please

I have not been able to log onto the UK FJ site all weekend, so I will put out the request for any UK members that might be able to assist me.

I have become a dealer of a product made in the UK. I have gotten everything completed, the first order placed, but I have put it on hold.

The issue is shipping. The shipping amount for the product is close to 75% of the actual cost of the item. So, this means I have to add that amount to the product cost before I can even determine the selling price.

So, for example if the product costs $10.00, I have to add $7.50 to the cost to get the product in my hands.

This company uses a single shipping vendor for this size order I placed and for large enough orders, they ship via cargo container, but I will be sometime before I can fill a container. They will allow for "will call" for me to send in my own shipping company.

My request is, who out there knows of cost effective shipping options of packages from the UK to the US?

How quick do you need it? Is there a rough value for each box (is insurance needed). I assume they do not contain tiger bollox, firearms or any other contraband and that is likely to cause upset with HMRC (customs!).  You can pm response if you don't want to advertise details.  I have family in logistics and if they cant help directly they may be able to point in the right direction!
