Don't let me mislead you, I'm only riding the 87 TO Bonneville.  My father-in-law and his Apprentice have been building a Triton for the last few months with the intention of running it and I was extended the invitation to join them as a low rent crew member on the race team.  After seeing the "Worlds Fastest Indian" I've been looking for an excuse to go and now I've got one.
My involvement started about three months ago when I drove done to my F-I-Laws shop in Oxnard to wire up a lathe so they could get to work machining parts and must admit, that's when I had hoped I'd be invited.  As of this posting they're almost done with the bike minus the motor which is laying in pieces on the bench.  Apparently they wanna get EVERYTHING right before final assembly.
We'll be staying in a KOA somewhere near the Flats so if anyone one has any (besides don't go) advice as to my route from Sacramento to Utah or moto-camping in general...I'm all ears.

p.s. I'm gonna post a TON of photos when I get home.

At this moment, I intend on meeting you up there!   I'll be on my '84 so just follow the oil spots to the dirty bike  (my bike is the opposite force in the universe to counter Paddy's bike).   I will also hope you can get my picture with Mr. Lee C up there.   I don't think I'll get there until late Sunday or Monday.   Lee mentioned he is camping just to the west of the event on BLM land that camping is permissible.   I believe he said all FJs are welcome to share his camping spot.  He also mentioned that he'll be caging in the truck, but is bringing Mrs C.     :dance2:

My first go as well.   There was some interesting info on the BUB site if you haven't see it yet...   http://www.speedtrialsbybub.com/2009_event/index-2009.html   That is all I know so far.   Haven't put in any prep time yet.  Not even sure about camping or motel.   I suspect it will depend on if anyone in the Az area is going to ride with me, then I'll be easy to convince either way.
