I havent started the FJ for a few weeks until thursday and that was just to turn it over and keep it running. Anyway the last time I started it it ran sweet. Started it thursday and bugger me its miss firing. It seems to be running on 3 cylinders off choke but wont idle on its own. If its on choke it runs fine on what appears to be all 4s. I am assuming its a blocked carbi? would this be a good assumption. I dont think its a sticky valve as it appears to be ok on choke. The only thing I can put it down to but seems strange is when I did the tank creme. When I did the tank creme I did run the tank dry until it stopped running however I do have an inline filter. Now the filter may not get everything but I put fresh fuel in after the tank was done. I have ridden it for about 100km after that but never been out since then. Just started. Any suggestions. I am in the process of removing the carbs but I thought  before I do i will get some advice. While Im on the subject have you ever seen how much fuel the FJ sucks when its on choke. I disconnected the fuel line and just ran what was left in the filter out. Talk about syphon pump. Makes you wonder how they can be so economical. Dont think my old 350 chev was that bad. Any help is greatly appreciated

With our crappy gas the carbs don't like to sit too long. The idle jets are really small and clog up first. Once clogged it won't idle without the choke. I have had luck using carb cleaner in the gas and going for a long ride if it has not sat more than a few months. Others have had to pull the carbs and clean them before the bike runs well again.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Once you get it sorted out and clean here is a product I have used very successfully http://mystarbrite.com/startron//content/view/82/112/lang,en/ It is a little bit more money but well worth it. I live in Idaho and it's not unusual for bikes, and lawn maint motors to be stored from Nov to April.
It is available from WalMart (sometimes located in the boat/RV supplies) and I am sure a lot of other places handle the stuff along with on line.
I am not affiliated with the business end of the product. I just use it and am happy with it.
