break master cylinder

hi guys iam having a small problem with my master cylinder on my 88 3cv it seems to be leaking from somewhere but i have only had a quick look and not sure where to start with it, is it a common problem? it seems to be around the bottom of the res neat the break switch when driving it ends up all over the right side of the plastics on the inside.......... :dash1:

Not really a common problem Loki. If overfilled, and the rubber seal on the cap is old, it could be weeping from the top, or it may be the copper washers on either side of the banjo where the line is attached to the body of the master.
Only other places it can leak is if the sight glass is not sealed, or leaking past the piston seal.
Clean it really well with some soapy water and a soft brush (like a brush and dustpan brush). Then dry it with your wifes/girlfriends hair drier. now apply the brakes a few dozen times and spot where the leak is from.

thanks mate, the top and the banjo was the first thing i checked, i had a good look today i think its the piston seal its seeping out from, got hold of an r6 front break master cylinder and res today from a mate so it will be getting put on at the weekend with the hard luggage  :good2:
