Okay, so I'm young at heart!! Thought I would post this here also for folks who might not be following the WCR topic. If I deserve a spanking for it, so be it!

It is looking very likely that me and my FJ will be making a west coast appearance in May and June. Work has finally given me the opportunity to get out there and experience what I have been reading about here for years. Here's the schedule as it appears now. I will be in Las Vegas from May 17th until the 26th, then need to be in Santa Clara, CA on Monday the 28th until June 1st. I can then spend 2 or more days in Porterville and need to be in San Diego on the 6th or 7th of June until the 16th. I will be working a show at each stop, but will have evenings free. So I am looking for route suggestions between cities, places to hang my hammock, and of course to meet any of you the would have the time. Even if it was just for a bite and a beer. I am really hoping the Tioga pass across Yosemite will be open early this year. If not, would a ride through Death Valley be a crazy idea?? Need to get crackin' on the bike repairs. Trucks are pulling out of Boston in 3 weeks!!

Thanks Mark,
I've been getting there group sale email for a few years now, even bought a couple things. I will check out the site with a different eye now that I will actually be able to ride out there.
I'm hoping to hook up with some members from here. I know I'll see a bunch at the WCR, but I will have a few days after that before I need to be down in San Diego. Of course they may all be headed west to the Colorado Rally.

If your going to be in the Vegas area, places to see, North rim of the Grand Canyon, then you could cruise up the 89 and into Zion (Unbelievably beautiful, climb Angel's Landing or hike the Narrows), Duck Creek (Cedar Breaks), Bryce and all the beautiful mountains of the area, shooting down the 15 at (Cedar City) will get you back to Vegas. This is a great loop, you get everything from huge holes (G.C.) to huge mountains, down the desert through the Virgin Gorge and Literally moonscape back to Vegas. This Is a great trip the wife and I have made on several occasions, her favorite is Zion (unbelievable scenery) and Duck Creek (pop. 68) 10,000 ft. level, can't spit without hitting a trout. And  all the charming little towns in south Utah, Riding past poligamist and Indian Res. in AZ. it is quite an eye opening trip. Towards night be very carful of deer and antelope, they are everywhere..... If you need a night to crash, going down the coast, I live in Simi Valley, couple hours north of San Diego, I have a fold out couch you are welcome to, and if it's the weekend, I'll show you Mullholland.....

From Vegas take the 95 out twards the 190 and cut over to the Sierra's ( stop and see Bodie, huge ghost town by Bridgeport) you don't want to miss Bodie. head north on the 395 The Seirra's has everything from Yosemite to huge waterfalls in June lake loop, to more lakes than you know what to do with, you might leave Vegas early, because the Sierra's will be more than you'll know what to do with, waaaay too much to see up there. Mammoth, June, Bodie. You could cut through Yosmite (watch for bears) and come out north of Merced and take one of the gazillion side roads over to Santa Clara
