Seeing as I'm on holidays (one benefit of being a teacher), I decided to install a carb rebuild kit from RPM.
I had to drill and easy-out all the old phillips-head screws as most hadn't been moved in over 20 years!
Fortunately, I'd bought the stainless hex-head replacement kit from Randy a while back so future work will be much easier. It does make the carbs look better as well.
Things went better than expected with the installation and tuning and my beloved now runs a lot better, in addition to being able to stop thanks to the blue spot calipers and XJR gear I installed on the front brakes.

My friend decided it would be a good idea to re-polish the Yamaha emblem on the clutch cover...it does look great, but now I have to order a set of gaskets from Randy at RPM to replace the old ones.
