Rotor thickness for 88 FZR1000?

The stock rotor is 7.6mm in the rear .   1mm=.0393"

the fzr rotor is not used because there is a chance of the pads wearing down and the pistons leaking from extending too far out of the caliper causing a rear wheel binding lockup.

IF you have been running this mod for years ,you don't use your rear brake much.

Correct, I'm on the front brakes more than the rear.  However, I'm using the FZR caliper as well... I would think that since they were made to be used together I would avoid having the issue you describe.  Side note: I did just replace the rear pads as I was doing my 'winter maintenance' because they were quite worn.
